Singapore

in two words ... ? ... LOVED IT !!! everything about it, from the beautiful (now i must pause and mention that this is worded especially for dear constance) "green foliage" to the clear blue skies, to the clear CLEAN skies ... to the shopping (deanna and glenn led us to a mall specific to sports wear/shoes and these items were actually cheaper than we can get here or in canada) ... to the incredible restaurants ... to the hundreds of possible running routes we could enjoy, right amongst all that gorgeous green foliage and clear blue skies ... i could go on and on!

it was great to see and spend time with deanna and glenn, and they really went all out to show us around - evening river bumboat cruise through downtown, ICE CREAM/CHOCOLATE FONDUE (absolutely heavenly!), tree top canopy walk over the rain forest, shopping, another cruise through a different section of the city, more shopping, night safari tour (very cool), lots of good laughs, saw one campus of the four schools for CIS ... to name just a few of our activities ... we realized just how many things there are to do in singapore (as a resident or visitor).

now their condo I ABSOLUTELY LOVE! if you are new to struggling through my musings, you may not realize that a great looking bathroom rates actually quite high in what i consider essential for a harmonious residential living experience (reference: "first time in china" written nov 17/07). the construction is far superior to here in macau, in fact, come to think of it, i don't believe i saw one set of bamboo scaffolding! they have gorgeous marble flooring throughout, and the kitchen is much more like at home in canada than what we have here (it comes complete with a larger fridge, usual-to-canada cupboard storage, and ... an OVEN). they have a beautiful view that overlooks the complex poolS (yes, plural) right into ... you got it right again ... this huge expanse of yes, green foliage. deanna mentioned that 70% of singapore is green space, has a population of over 4 million, but the size of the city is comparable to calgary.

yes indeedy, if the opportunity ever were to present itself, singapore would NOT be hard to choose!
