the theme park was beautiful, with scale models (varying from 1:3 to 1:15) of each country/part of the world - very well done i might add - and also included an indoor skating rink, small ski hill (with a t-bar) and tobogganing slides. it was quite comical to watch the little asian children scream in delight as they shot down the slides on tire tubes.
found a great thai restaurant on the other side of the city and had a great day of shopping on sunday before heading back (i did NOT buy shoes - although, wait - dave did - okay, they were just sandals to wear when we shower after the GWM in beijing). we actually timed our shopping quite well - we got there just as they were sleepily setting up, in fact, quite a few shops were not open yet. one of the girls in our group had purchased the cutest purse and at the first shop we came to - it was there - imagine - fate it was! - i had no choice but to join the ranks and see what i could whittle the price down to. when we were done the girl asked me "this your first time in shenzhen?" i replied that it was. she said "well how come you know to offer SO LOW then?" i just laughed and said it was because i was so cheap! after thinking about that i should have admitted to be a regular shopper in zhuhai. all in all, i ended up with a really cute purse for well, not very much money ... you must remember, after all, that we ARE living on a teacher's salary ...!

CRAIG AND JOS are here tomorrow! SO excited to see them! we have been trying to think of different places to go, different restaurants to try (note i said "try" - we actually do not eat out very much - too late at night for us early risers). now i have to add this for all of dave's "buddies" that are "wowwed" by his, how shall i say "creativities". we were trying to make one of our spare rooms look just a little more together and i just knew we had to do something about the drapes. we had an extra fitted sheet that matched the duvet and thought if we could just find a tailor to quickly turn them into a little curtain it would be perfect. thankfully dave had the foresight to bring along his electronic translator and had even taken a picture of the existing ones. but to no avail, no one was interested and would charge way too much to whip something up out of the fabric they offered.

just received a call from sam and it was SO GREAT to talk! she is heading back to work this monday and has done so well in her recovery. we cannot even begin to imagine what she has endured and will be facing again in august. we are going down to atlanta the weekend before we fly back to macau (and this is the weekend before her 2nd surgery) so are really looking forward to seeing her and meeting josh!
