LIVING IN THE FAST LANE

... well, faster than walking anyways ...!!

we bought a scooter. 125 cc (hence the "faster than walking" quip), about 4 years old, 28000 km (remember macau is only 4 km at its widest point by 7 km long), a very sleek silver color and in very good shape. and it is fun! fun! fun! it has really changed our mornings, instead of having to get up at 4:00 a.m. each morning we now can sleep in until 5:00 a.m. - we don't have to wait for the bus in the morning and it takes only 5 minutes to get to the school. we have not yet ventured into that "unknown" territory called macau, but have made lots of miles here on taipa. one of our friends had it down right when he said "if you can drive in macau, you can drive ANYwhere in the world". we intend to get a little more comfortable in driving on the wrong, oops, i mean left, side of the road before crossing the bridge to the "dark side" (ie. macau)

Yvonne's 50th birthday dinner
okay, i was spoiled ... wasn't going to say anything about this "momentous" occasion, but since dave posted this i might as well add a blurb or two. our day started with me actually beating dave at canasta, a great run, then errands that ended up with a stop at my favorite flower shop where i was treated to the most beautiful bouquet. but wait! it doesn't stop there ... then we went to the aurora at the crown hotel - which is a very, very nice place to dine - it is on the 10th floor and overlooks north across the bay into macau; it was beautiful and let me tell you, we were waited on hand and foot! they kept bringing us extras, and then when they found out just what the occasion was, they brought out a special dessert (and yes i did eat it AND the dessert i had ordered ... although they did ask us if we still wanted our ordered dessert ... but we thought why bow out now?!!!!).
